The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
