And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron, with Our Signs and authority manifest, 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
