The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
