He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
