He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
