He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
