Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
