The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the breath of morning 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
