The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a Great Day? 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
