The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is not a jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
Almighty God's Truth.
