The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
