Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
