Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
