Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
