Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Dawn, 1 and ten nights, 2 by the even and the odd, 3 And [by] the night when it passes, 4 There surely is an oath for thinking man. 5 Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with Ad 6 Of Eram with lofty pillars (erected as signposts in the desert), 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 and with [the tribe of] Thamud, who hollowed out rocks in the valley? 9 And Pharaoh, of the pegs (impaling his victims)? 10 Those who rebelled in the cities, 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him, and honours him, and blesses him, then he says, 'My Lord has honoured me.' 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 No! But you show no good to the orphan, 17 Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And you devour (others') inheritance greedily, 19 And you love wealth with much love! 20 Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing, 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna (Hell) is brought near on that Day the human will remember, and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 And no one binds like He does! 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
Almighty Allah's Truth.
