The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
