The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
