The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
