The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
