A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 [O men!] Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and follow no masters other than Him. Little are you admonished. 3 And how many a township We have destroyed, upon them Our violence came at night or while they were taking their midday rest. 4 Then naught was their cry when Our violence came upon them save that they said: verily we have been the wrong-doers. 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 We shall recount (their deeds) to them with knowledge, for We were never absent (and saw all they did). 7 And the measuring out on that day will be just; then as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is heavy, those are they who shall be successful; 8 And whosesoever balances will be light - those are they who have lost themselves in respect of Our signs. 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
