The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 Surely I shall have your hands and feet cut off upon alternate sides. Then I shall crucify you every one. 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
