The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
75 verses, revealed in Medina after The Heifer (Al-Baqarah) before The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ They ask thee concerning the spoils of war. Say thou: the spoils of war are Allah's and the apostle's. So fear Allah, and set right the matter among you, and obey Allah and His apostle if ye are believers. 1 Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust. 2 those who are constant in prayer and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance: 3 Such are the true believers. They have a high standing with their Lord, His forgiveness and an honourable provision made for them. 4 Just as thy Lord ordered thee out of thy house in truth, even though a party among the Believers disliked it, 5 disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become clear, as though they were being driven into death with their eyes wide open. 6 And when Allah promised you one of the two parties that it shall be yours and you loved that the one not armed should he yours and Allah desired to manifest the truth of what was true by His words and to cut off the root of the unbelievers. 7 That He should establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it. 8 (Remember) when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): "I will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession." 9 Allah made it but a message of hope, and an assurance to your hearts: (in any case) there is no help except from Allah: and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. 10
