When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
