Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 Thamood and Aad belied the Clatterer. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
