They will question thee concerning the Spirit. Say: 'The Spirit is of the bidding of my Lord. You have been given of knowledge nothing except a little.' 85 And if We willed We could surely take away that which We have revealed to you by inspiration (i.e. this Quran). Then you would find no protector for you against Us in that respect. 86 Unless your Lord have mercy. His blessings on you are great indeed. 87 Say: "If all mankind and all invisible beings would come together with a view to producing the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce its like even though they were to exert all their strength in aiding one another!" 88 In this Quran, We have set out all kinds of examples for people, yet most of them persist in denying the truth. 89 They declare, "We will never believe in you until you cause a spring to flow for us from the earth; 90 Or thou have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth therein abundantly; 91 or thou cause the skies to fall down upon us in smithereens, as thou hast threatened, or [till] thou bring God and the angels face to face before us, 92 Or you have a house of gold or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?" 93
