They ask thee concerning the Spirit (of inspiration). Say: "The Spirit (cometh) by command of my Lord: of knowledge it is only a little that is communicated to you, (O men!)" 85 If it were Our Will, We could take away that which We have sent thee by inspiration: then wouldst thou find none to plead thy affair in that matter as against Us,- 86 except through the special mercy of your Lord. His favours towards you has been great indeed. 87 Say: "Surely if men and jinns get together to produce the like of this (Qur'an), they will not be able to produce the like of it, however they might assist one another. 88 We have mentioned in this Quran all kinds of examples for the human being, but most human beings turn away in disbelief. 89 They say: 'We will not believe in you until you make a spring gush from the earth for us, 90 or you (show) us that you have your own garden of palm trees and vines with flowing streams therein, 91 or cause the sky to fall on us in pieces as you claimed, or bring Allah and the angels before us, face to face; 92 or, until you possess an ornate house of gold, or ascend into the heavens; and we will not believe in your ascension until you have brought down for us a book which we can read' Say: 'Exaltations to my Lord! Am I anything except a human Messenger' 93
