Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
