The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
