(Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister; 35 Then We said: go ye twain unto a people who have belied Our signs. Then We annihilated them an utter annihilation. 36 We drowned the people of Noah also when they rejected their messengers and We made them an example to all mankind. We have prepared a painful punishment for the wrongdoers, 37 And the 'Aad and the Thamud and the dwellers of the Rass and many generations in-between. 38 We gave guidance and drove each to destruction. 39 And certainly they have (often) passed by the town on which was rained an evil rain; did they not then see it? Nay! they did not hope to be raised again. 40 Whenever they see you, they mock you (saying): 'Is this whom Allah has sent as a Messenger? 41 Well nigh he had led us astray from our gods if we had not persevered towards them. Presently they shall know, when they behold the torment, who is more astray in respect of path. 42 Hast thou seen him who has taken his caprice to be his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over them? 43 Do you think that most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle, no, they are further astray from the Path. 44
