This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
