And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 "God has begotten (children)?" They are liars indeed! 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 God is far above what they attribute to Him, 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And peace is upon the Noble Messengers. 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
