And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk: Lo! I am innocent of what ye worship 26 None [do I worship] but Him who has brought me into being: and behold, it is He who will guide me!" 27 And he made it a word to continue in his posterity that they may return. 28 (Even when they began worshipping others than Allah We did not destroy them) but bestowed sustenance on them and on their forefathers until there came to them the Truth and a Messenger who clearly expounded things to them. 29 And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say: This is mere magic, and lo! we are disbelievers therein. 30 They said, "Why was this Quran not sent down to one of the great men of the two cities?" 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that (all) men might become of one (evil) way of life, We would provide, for everyone that blasphemes against (Allah) Most Gracious, silver roofs for their houses and (silver) stair-ways on which to go up, 33 And silver doors for their houses, and silver couches whereon they recline, 34 And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun. 35
