We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 “This is our first and only death, and we shall never be raised again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
