The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 Your companion hath not gone astray, nor hath he erred. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
