Observedest thou him who turned away? 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From Nutfah (drops of semen male and female discharges) when it is emitted; 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
