The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
