The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
