The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And shade extended 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and upraised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
