The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
