The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
