The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
