The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
