The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
