Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
