Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
