Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed We sent Nooh towards his people saying that, “Warn your people before the painful punishment comes upon them.” 1 Noah said, "My people, I am warning you plainly. 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 "Ask for forgiveness of your Lord," I said. "Surely, He is the Forgiver. 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
