The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
