The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
