The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
