The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
